What's the quickest way to update your look for fall? By switching up your beauty routine of course! While wardrobe shopping for the season can take some time, there's nothing easier than scooping up a new lipstick or experimenting with eyeshadow. This week, I called upon my favorite beauty expert; makeup artist Cris Jenkins, to give us the low down on the look of the season. Hint: things are about to get dark...

BEAUTY TRENDS FOR FALL/WINTER 2012
by: Cris Jenkins
TREND: GOTH GLAM
Spotted at: Gucci, Dior, Alex Perry, Rochas, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Venetta
If I can use a term to express a specific trend for F/W2012-13, I'd use "goth glam." Mysterious smokey eyed models with luminous bright skin and vampy dark lips sauntered down runways. Bored? Well, this season's makeup trend was not the typical smokey black eye and dark red lip. Instead
chocolate cherry lips and smokey eyes in browns
, violets and plums delighted my visual acuity.
Overall,
eyebrows were full, groomed but natural
.
Skin was dewy, clean, bright and uncomplicated
. I saw some rosy cheeks but for the most part
lips and eyes ruled
.

TIP
:
The perfect smokey brown eye is all about finding the perfect brown for your skin tone. As a rule, warmer skin tones should stick with yellow/red based browns. Cooler skin tones, blue/gray based browns.
