NYFW Interview: Style Advice & More from Designer Sylvie Millstein via Guest of a Guest
What do you get when you combine Parisian style with Japanese simplicity? The answer is Hellessy, the ready-to-wear line born of French/Japanese designer, Sylvie Millstein. The Paris born beauty lived in Tokyo for years before moving to NYC in 2007, and worked for esteemed fashion houses Givenchy and Chanel, as well as Harrods before using her wide experience to create her own collection. Hellessy’s effortless pieces are crafted in luxe materials that translate seamlessly into a modern, working wardrobe. This season’s collection proved no different, and included a variety of wearable items - from a perfect autumn poncho to a pair of leather bellbottoms paired down with a simple striped top. We caught up with Sylvie to get her style tips for dressing chic and maintaining a well-edited wardrobe.

Interview w/ Daniel Silverstain on His First Presentation at NYFW
Daniel Silverstain has been making waves in the fashion community ever since he arrived on the scene in 2011. Early on, Daniel was selected by Vogue Italy as one of Muuse’s Top 10 Most Promising Designers, and in 2013 was a finalist in ELLE’s Fashion Next Fashion Show. Daniel was very recently accepted as a member of the CFDA+ and recognized for his outstanding achievement in Womenswear Design. With design experience under his belt from working at Calvin Klein Collection, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Ellie Tahari, the young Israeli designer is finally showing his own collection at NYFW for the first time. I caught up with the newbie to find out who inspires him to create, and how he’s learning to let go.

NYFW: Interview w/ Designer Kaelen Haworth on the Importance of Staying Local & Having Fun! via Guest of a Guest
Canadian cool girl Kaelen Haworth has the sort of self-possessed ease of manner typical of someone twice her age, with a sense of style that’s as authentically hip as they come. So it’s no surprise that her eponymous womenswear line, KAELEN reflects the same statement-making, yet effortless presence of the designer herself. Kaelen’s aesthetic tends toward minimalist designs with stand out elements like bold volume and luxurious textures – each more covetable than the last.
This season, we took a moment with Kaelen during her spring show at the High Line Hotel to find out more about what drives this young designer’s dedication, how she pulls it all off and still manages to have fun during NYFW!

David Burke and IRC Put Down "New Roots" For Refugees
Being a true "foodie" is about more than just sampling the city’s best restaurants and cooking healthfully at home. It’s equally important to understand where our food comes from, and the impact it has on the environment and community. So when I stumbled upon International Rescue Committee (IRC)’s New Roots program – I was curious. As it turns out, the program is doing good in more ways than one.
Fashion Week Feast at Mas La Grillade via Guest of a Guest
After an exhilarating but exhausting 8 days of runway shows, parties and trudging around town in the snow – Fashion Week has finally come to an end! As a special treat to celebrate it’s finale, I hosted an intimate dinner for some of my most fashionable friends at Mas (la grillade). With temperatures well below zero, and yet another impending snowstorm on the forecast – a relaxed and decadent meal full of smoky goodness seemed the perfect way to unwind and recap the week.

NYFW: Day 7 Street Style from the Tents via Guest of a Guest
Though the sun shone down on Lincoln Center, it didn't go far towards warming the 21 degree day. Fashion week attendees rushed in and out of the tents in a hurry to escape the cold, but not without pausing gamely for a few street style photos first. Boisterous bloggers flaunted daring fashions, and Lynn Yeager raced by in her signature face paint as several cameras snapped her picture. In fact, we turned the lens on a few of the most well dressed photographers themselves. It seems they too deserve a moment of appreciation for looking good on the job, especially under such arctic conditions!

NYFW: How to Wear Gold Jeans, Day to Night via StyleCaster
Although it may be cold and snowy, that didn’t stop me from attending a number of shows and parties during New York Fashion Week. The problem: How to look festive and stylish while still paying attention to the inclement weather that’s been pummeling the city? Enter metallic jeans! On a particular busy day during NYFW, I slipped on my slightly slouchy, waxy gold jeans and felt just the right amount of appropriate.
But as I glanced at my calendar, I realized that while I’d start my day show hopping at Lincoln Center, I would end it with a party hosted by Vince at the Top of the Standard Hotel in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. Luckily, I worked out that I’d have a small window of time to run home and pull an outfit swap before my evening activities. In the interest of saving time, (and because I knew my jeans would fit right in amongst the venue’s gilded décor) I opted to keep the pants, and style them with more evening-friendly pieces.
Read on to see how I took these fancy pants from sun up to sun down, and tips on trying this bold trend yourself.

NYFW: Day 6 Street Style from the Tents via Guest of a Guest
Personal style was the main attraction inside the crisp, white space at Milk Studios. Frigid temperatures forced show-goers to keep cozy in their hats and coats. Luckily, said coats were anything but boring. From chic capes to vibrant colors and textures, the outerwear here was as fashionable as functional. But the real star of the day? Miss Fuego: a blonde haired, blue skinned, transgender... Puppet. Yes, the West Hollywood based, Puerto Rican character is a part of Milk Studio's Fashion Week program - and we got a chance to meet her (and her man of the moment) in the flesh... er, fur.
