Where I Went & What I Wore: A Faberge Big Egg Hunt & Art in General...via Guest of a Guest

Sometimes you've just got to party on a Tuesday... Like when storied jeweler, Faberge throws a massive fete to celebrate the finale of their citywide Big Egg Hunt. The appropriately grandiose bash was co-hosted by Arden Wohl, Waris Ahluwalia, Terri Richardson, Aby Rosen and 10 other fixtures in the social scene, ensuring that the guest list was just as hot. Surrounding a stage and under the glow of water-filled globe lamps at the Diamond Horseshoe in the Paramount Hotel, the crowd was equally theatrical. One woman dressed in white lace tights, a white fur coat and matching feathered hat declared, "now this is a party!" to nobody in particular.

But before the after party comes the other after party, as I began the evening with art in general... Or make that Art in General - and their annual Spring Gala. Co-chaired by Kyle de Woody, Manish Vora and Dustin Yellin - dozens of pretty young things packed out Root studios in honor of artist Phong Bui and Sotheby's Lisa Dennison. Guests mingled amongst recognizable faces and those less recognizable…namely the ones printed on the hanging installation by David Mramor, dubbed “John Doe.” Click through to see my outfit choice for the event-filled night!

Dream in Green with Rêve en Vert

Dream in Green with Rêve en Vert

Not only does the site carry effortlessly chic designers that are tough to find in the US, but they also adhere to strict guidelines of ethical manufacturing AND provide carbon neutral shipping.  So while price points aren’t cheap (around that of Net-A-Porter) you are paying for both quality of product and peace of mind.  And that…is worth every penny.

In recognition of Earth Day, I caught up with the London based, babes behind the brand to learn more about why rêve en vert really is a dream come true for every hippie in heels.

16 Non-Toxic Beauty Products For Earth Day

16 Non-Toxic Beauty Products For Earth Day

News flash – it’s just as important to be aware of what we put ON our bodies as what we put in them. So while most of us know to steer clear of GMO’s when it comes to our food, what you may not realize is that they’re also present in a lot of beauty products. Many popular bath, body and makeup items also use other dangerous toxins like parabens, sulfates, phthalates and petrochemicals, all of which have been linked to health issues and scary diseases including cancer. Yikes!

In addition to their personalized, online and in person shopping services - Le Curate also stages stunning editorial spreads featuring interviews with fashionable tastemakers around the country.  Meant to inspire readers to experiment with the latest trends in unexpected ways, these features offer tips and a unique perspective on personal style.  For our shoot, of course I had some input on the styling - but the girls chose all of the clothes.  Let me tell you, for a stylist to allow herself to be styled... it ain't always easy!  So let it be a testament to their skill, that I loved each and every Hippie in Heels inspired outfit.

A Schmancy Hollywood Party in a 1960's Tunic Suit via Cosmo.com

Sometimes, business and pleasure coincide in the most delightful way.  Like when Cadillac invited me to their "Style Driven: 50 Style Stars" event with WhoWhatWear… in Los Angeles.  Yay!  Which is where one of my BFFs (Krystal) happens to live.

Double Yay!  And on the weekend that she was planning to road trip up to my hometown of San Francisco… for which Cadillac offered us a shiny new Escalade hybrid to test-drive!  So many “yays” that I’m starting to sound like a Yorkie puppy...

Behind the Lens: Ed Kavishe on What it's Like to Be a Fashion Photographer

Behind the Lens: Ed Kavishe on What it's Like to Be a Fashion Photographer

From New York to Prague and everywhere in between, fashion photographers follow the industry wherever it may lead, in order to capture it all for us folks at home. It’s a job that can be both glamorous, and extraordinarily challenging. This week, CEO and Founder of Fashion Wire Press, Ed Kavishe took a moment out of his insanely busy schedule to tell us what it’s really like to live the life behind the lens.

NYFW: Day 7 Street Style from the Tents via Guest of a Guest

Though the sun shone down on Lincoln Center, it didn't go far towards warming the 21 degree day. Fashion week attendees rushed in and out of the tents in a hurry to escape the cold, but not without pausing gamely for a few street style photos first. Boisterous bloggers flaunted daring fashions, and Lynn Yeager raced by in her signature face paint as several cameras snapped her picture. In fact, we turned the lens on a few of the most well dressed photographers themselves. It seems they too deserve a moment of appreciation for looking good on the job, especially under such arctic conditions!

NYFW: How to Wear Gold Jeans, Day to Night via StyleCaster

Although it may be cold and snowy, that didn’t stop me from attending a number of shows and parties during New York Fashion Week. The problem: How to look festive and stylish while still paying attention to the inclement weather that’s been pummeling the city? Enter metallic jeans! On a particular busy day during NYFW, I slipped on my slightly slouchy, waxy gold jeans and felt just the right amount of appropriate.

But as I glanced at my calendar, I realized that while I’d start my day show hopping at Lincoln Center, I would end it with a party hosted by Vince at the Top of the Standard Hotel in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. Luckily, I worked out that I’d have a small window of time to run home and pull an outfit swap before my evening activities.  In the interest of saving time, (and because I knew my jeans would fit right in amongst the venue’s gilded décor) I opted to keep the pants, and style them with more evening-friendly pieces.

Read on to see how I took these fancy pants from sun up to sun down, and tips on trying this bold trend yourself.

A Single Gal's Guide to Celebrating Valentine's Day

A Single Gal's Guide to Celebrating Valentine's Day

But this holiday is for more than just couples, it’s for anyone and everyone who wants an excuse to celebrate. I mean who doesn’t love, Love? Love for your BFF, your faithful French bulldog who’s ALWAYS there when you need her, your awesome dry cleaner, who never scolds you for bringing in wine stained blouses week after week…

Besides – this holiday was never for (most of) the boys anyway. I’m pretty sure that the majority of males are happy to leave the doilies, pink hearts and sappy, soul-baring cards to us lady folk. But even if the thought of all that makes you want to upchuck your kale salad and shut the blinds until the 15th, there are plenty of ways to feel the love.

Click through to read my backstage interviews and find out what they were doing BEFORE they were packing out the tents at Lincoln Center. How to Make It As a Fashion Blogger via StyleCaster

If you’ve ever considered starting your own fashion blog, you’ve probably considered the following question: How can I make blogging my full-time job, and make money in the process? It’s one thing to have a personal style blog—pretty much everybody and their mom (sometimes literally!) has one, since most platforms are free to start and easy to use—but it’s quite another to take that platform and make it something that nets you actual income.

“Honestly, it’s not easy to make money,” said Natalie Decleve ofNatty Style. ”And it’s not easy to maintain. If you want to make blogging your full-time job, you [really] have to make it your full-time job.”

That may sound a bit redundant, but what Decleve means is less straightforward than it sounds: In order to make your main source of income your fashion blog, you have to invest not just your passion and dedication, but also (most importantly) your time. It’s a cliché, but it’s true: success doesn’t happen overnight....
